The far east
In November a team of EMMA Trainers flew over to Asia to train the official judges of the regions. First in China and later in Malaysia more then 120 participants took part on these training lessons which have been done already with the new 2009 SQ competition disc and also the according rules. A great success, but more then that a conference was arranged to discuss the further steps to establish an Asian roof organisation similar to EMMA Europe. But step by step.
After arriving in Shenzhen, one of the Chinese Megacities close to Hong Kong, the team was invited to see the national Chinese EMMA Championships which were held at a national race track. The 70 finalists showed a high level of installation and also the sounding was very good. A clear sign of the fast development of the EMMA participants in this huge country. The location offered the great chance to do the EMMA Racing in a professional manner enthusiastic applaused by the visitors on the tribunes. The additional arranged show with many Democars of the EMMA China Sponsors was the target of many thousand people so that the comments about the event have been positive. A colourful ceremony finished the event and after that a traditional Hot Pot was served. According to the Chinese tradition lots of Beer have been consumed in a very short period which leads to a funny atmosphere within the group. Luckily the Europeans are very skilled in this competition so they could survive. The following days a proper judge training was arranged at a big car dealer´s facilities in Shenzhen, first time including also practical lessons on the according cars. The judges commented the changes around the rules and also the new source very positive and showed a great interest on the practical part. The last day a trip around the City and a visit to an Installers shop as well as a visit in one of the regions traditional Amplifier factories rounded this part of the journey.
Leaving from Hong Kong the target was Kuala Lumpur were EMMA Malaysia´s Boss Roger Tan arranged a great place for the second judge training of this trip. In Petaling Jaya, a suberb of the capital Kuala Lumpur almost 80 participants from the Philipines, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong and Malaysia were educated on the use of the new audio source just readily received from the Cap a pie studio. Also here the response to the actual titles was very positive and within two days the complete update of the judges was done. The third day was then used to have practical lessons on several cars and beside this an open discussion of how the future in Asia could look like was arranged. The idea to have a roof above the national partners was discussed with the representatives from Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, The Philipines and Thailand. All agreed that this will be necessary to manage the further growth of the competition scene and EMMA programs in Asia, also in terms of the EMMA Academy. So far the plan was agreed to develop a Masterplan until February and then possibly meet again at the international Head Judge training in Germany to found this roof for Asia. The enormous potential of Asia in terms of growing markets has to be covered by a professional structure managing the separate places. The final target is to organise international Asian Championships in the future.
In fact this trip was again a good and corporative issue which showed that step by step EMMA is growing and fills the competition scene with life.
