The 2008 European Championships
are over and all who have been there saw a great event with 300 participants
from 28 Nations. The unbelievable spirit of this international event hard
to describe even having this every year. This Atmosphere of friendship
in between the competitors lanes and among all representatives of EMMA,
as well as between the international representatives of the Industry,
is a unique thing. The final of the EMMA event season is always the place
to meet and to enjoy. The companies who supported this event as a main
Sponsor were Pioneer with their fabulos team and their big promotion
truck and DLS with great competition cars from Russia and Slovenia. Further
Sponsors were Blaupunkt, Standartplast, Ground Zero, Ausdison, Hertz,
Clarion, Betwith, Focal, Digital Design and Kenwood.
After the registration was finished on Thursday lunchtime it was clear that the judges would have to do a hard job. The amount of cars was the highest ever on the championships so the judging order and logisticts had to be according to that. In 7 categories the judging was done over two days (Thursday and Friday) by the same teams and the best six were sorted out to start again on Saturday with a new Ssund judging made by new teams. The ESPL competitors had their installation judging also on Thursday and Friday as well as EMMA Racing. The Slalom of the Racing competition was done on Friday on an outside area in front of the hall which was originally prepared for a Motorrace on the weekend. The great track which was set up in the morning and already in use could not be used for all day. So after 10 cars have been already driven the course the management didn´t allow to continue so everything has to be restarted on a shorther track of the slalom. Anyway, the visitors and participants had great fun. Saturday was the day of the truth. The final 6 and also the ESPL measurements were arranged. During the measurement there occurred some problems with a pressure sensor so the system had to be changed and the judges lost some time. In the SQ and Multi Media Categories the particpants were nervously puzzling about who will be the best finally but on the other hand also relaxed because of not being worse than 6th place. At 18:30 the programm was over and the preparations for the little Party were done. The Teams of DLS and Pioneer as well as the EMMA Team had ordered some buffets on the galery above the Hall No1 and for others there was a restaurant and additional bars arranged. At 10°° the Vodkabar was opend with original Russian Standard sponsored by Victor Ivanov, a Russian competitor. 12 Liters were emptied quite fast and the result was a wild party afterwards. Sunday started with the final of the best two of each category in ESPL and after that the ceremony could start in time at 15:30 with a big thank to the judges and office team as well as to the head judges, Ronald van Looij/Netherlands/ESPL, Rene Krosse Kraft/Germany/Install, Costas Christopouos/Greece/Sound and the event director Leo Bergamini from Switzerland. The ceremony took almost two hours because of the huge amount of particpants who had to come on stage. A lot of surprises and many sharings in the ranking were the major issues to report about. Of course it was an emotional moment when the winners became their certificate. One unique thing happened in ESPL. Markus Sigismund from Germany is the first competitor who is now four times Eurochampion in the same class with the same car. A couple of titles have been defended but also new Champions were awarded. 17:30 everybody started to leave the Eurofinals and the international stage of a great EMMA event season 2009 – looking forward to a new hot season 2009!
