Coming back to Germany after 11 Years was a great challenge for the EMMA Team because the expectations have been very high especially from the Sponsors perspective. Again Pioneer and DLS took the main Sponsorship for this Mega event but also many other brands supported the Finals. Alpine, Kenwood, Clarion, JL Audio, Hifonics, Rockford Fosgate, Helix, Brax, Silent Coat, AIV, Magnat, Mac Audio, Audiovox, Rainbow, Ground Zero and German Maestro showed in Hall 3 of the Nuremberg Expo what is “ State of the Art” in terms of Mobile Entertainment and the 150 000 Visitors were confronted with the according Technologies. Almost 200 participants from over 20 Nations came to challenge each other to find the best of the best. Very interesting was also the fact that many foreign visitors from all over the globe came to the Consumenta to see and feel the best car entertainment possible.

The season in Russia closed on September 11 with a great and spectacular final. In total 106 competitors from 50 Cities from Russia and Ukraine took part at the National Final at the ground motorsport complex "Virage" in Belgorod. The final scoring was done by 26 judges from all over the Nation. Some comments showed that the rest of Europe has again to expect a very strong team from the East of the Continent to defend their title as the most successful Nation in Europe´s Sound Quality and ESPL Scene. All the cars have been visited intensively by the audience and also the so called “Heavy Artillery” was taking care of the visitor’s entertainment with the highest score of Yuri Suslikov from Saratov, with 153.7 dB. Saturday night was the time for another event, the EMMA Party. The opening of the head of EMMA-Russia Gennady Litvin said thanks to everyone who supported the EMMA Russia Championship during the 2011 Season. Then the night went on and on and on ...The new leadership can be proud about the great steps done within the last months and now we will see how the others will challenge Team Russia in Nuremberg.

Although the crises are still visible, EMMA Slovenia did it again.
During the traditional Auto Motor Show Ljubljana 2011 EMMA Slovenia managed to complete the national finals for the season 2011. Around 80 cars competed in EMMA and dB-Drag competitions. The Event had a very big accompanying program, from the famous Globe of Speed, to the national and now European DRIFT champion Luka Marko Grošelj appearance with his team mates. EMMA Slovenia also arranged that all ESPL cars were connected by FM together, to create a real massive car disco. The hall was shaking to its foundations! Supported by Street Modified, there was also more than 50 tuning and styling cars that could be seen. More then 10.000 visitors in three day came to see this ultimate show, who is still one of the best in Slovenia. Now Team Slovenia is starting to prepare their trip to the Euro Finals in Nuremberg, so watch out!

Great success of EMMA Staff @ Smart Times 2011, the world meeting dedicated exclusively to SMART car. The location for the biggest Smart event in Europe was Riccione at the Adriatic Cost. The idea was to have a simplified EMMA Rulebook Version to let the Smart Cars compete. The guys of EMMA San Marino have performed the evaluation of the cars in all the three categories available: Tuning and performance, design and aesthetics, in-car media and SPL. Thousands of SMART with various mechanical and aesthetics changes came to Italy and showed off their masterpieces, from the simple application of vinyl stickers on the car, up to complete replacement with a 2000cc 4-cylinder turbo engine and the reinforcement of the shell with a sturdy roll bar. Some showed also real high end sound and new international friendships and relations have been started. A great fun within two days in pure EMMA San Marino Style :-)

On the weekend of August 20-21st the swedish EMMA finals 2011 was held together with the annual Vallakra-meeting outside Helsingborg in southern Sweden. The meeting is an outdoor event, but luckily the weather turned our excellent. Sun, blue skies and a moderate breeze.
The starting field had 35 competitors, of which two were guests from Norway that wanted to challenge the Swedes. Also the judge team had international guests from Norway and Germany. After the pricegiving on sunday morning, the Best Of Sound competition was started. The participants of Best Of Sound is qualified by having the highest sound points in each class. The qualified cars are judged again on sound three times by diffent judges. The title of Best Of Sound 2011 was awarded to Henrik Johannesson. We congratulate all winners and surely many of the cars will attend the EMMA finals to challenge for the title of European Champion. See you in Nuremberg in october!

The British Sound-Off scene has been sizzling this summer, with fresh vigour from the UK’s new management. With better coverage on the Internet, with clever use of Facebook and the UK EMMA web site as well as extensive multimedia articles on www.talkaudio.co.uk, the UK’s sound-off entrants have been made more famous than before! There has been a free entrants’ prize draw at each of the major rounds and the EMMA UK guys have been off doing exhibition stands at all sorts of car shows. But so far, the best event has been at Brands Hatch. Home of the UK Superbike championships, the race track is a UK legend and EMMA had a legendary event. Lots of cars, some making 800 mile round trips, with some Euro-Finals challenge grade sound quality and some of the biggest baddest bass the UK has. It was well run, brilliant fun for everyone and very well attended. Sound-off is growing again in the UK. So look out come Euro Finals time, ‘cos we’re comin’ to getcha.

It was already the fifth edition of the international Sound Off at the Tuningexpo in Saarbrücken/Germany and participants from Switzerland, France, the Netherlands, and Slovenia and of course Germany showed off their actual masterpieces. Supported by the EMMA Partners Hifonics, Rockford Fosgate, Crunch, JL Audio, HAMA, Ground Zero and German Maestro the Hall No. 8 was the Hot Spot for the In Car Entertainment. The over 33 000 visitors saw all facettes of modern mobile media from demo Busses with big screens and 3D Play station to total invisible Installation with a high quality sound. In total 1000 cars attended this biggest summer tuning event in Germany and the organizers arranged many attractions from Striptease Shows, sexy Carwash, Low riders to the EMMA Sound Off and of course a big Beach Party on Saturday. A great event to attend so remarks it on your calendar.

On the fairground of Wieselburg the "Tuningdays" were helt and also the Austrian car media enthusiasts met for an EMMA competition in Upper Austria. The organisers of Tuningdays underlined the topic car media while dedicating a hole hall with pure sound. Stands with local dealers and distributors were mixed with areas of EMMA competitors. In this way the visitors were able to see what can be bought - and how it could be installed.The third event for the new EMMA Austria brought again 40 competitors together to find the best sounding car and the loudest car. Loudest ESPL car of the event was the Toyota Corolla of Thomas Atzmüller with 149,6/144,8 (Termlab) in ESPL Experienced 4 Woofers.
Some curiosities can be found in SQ: In Experienced 2000 the point difference between the first and the second counts amazing 49 points, whereas in Experienced Unlimited the Winner has just one point lead. Also noteable: in the qualification list these two unlimited cars are ranking on top with equal points. As rumors says, all three competitors have already booked their hotel for the Eurofinals in Germany. But let's see what the rest of the year will bring up, the saison is not over as long as there are more events on the timetable.

On Sunday 5 July, EMMA Greece kicked of at Alikes Chalkidas, direct on the coastline, at a location called Da LUZ. A total amount of 110 competitors was taking part and have been judged smoothly during the day and at half past nine the ceremony started at the pool and became Big Party for the rest of the evening. The most exciting part of the event was an organized break from 14:00 to 17:00 when all went for swimming in the sea and had delicious food & drinks before going on with the competition.

EMMA Austria: Coronation "King of Sound"

The second event in Austria was held in cooperation with BurgerKing Linz. Therefore "King of Sound" was choosen as proper title for this event in and around the BurgerKing restaurant. 40 Competitor crowded the car park and gastgarten with their cars, even Ivan from Czech Republic came again to visit EMMA Austria. At final station of the Drive in, ESPL measurement was done by Headjuge Martin himself. Also a new category was introduced to the typical BurgerKing guests:  "ESPL Fun" which concentrated only on the two measurements, brought new competitors in contact with EMMA. Overall the event went very smooth, backoffice  was ready with the certificates in time at 5 p.m. and the mass awaited the new King: The crown for King of Sound went to Thomas Bauer and his silver Audi A6, who got 272 Sound points in Master 5 channels.

This weekend, the first event of the actual car audio season took place in Austria. The last months EMMA Austria was completly set up under a new organisation and this weekend the first event of the actual car audio season took place in Gosau. Even when it was the first event, the expectations were set high. EMMA Austria wanted to find an attractive kick off event, which was found with the car tuning meeting "Toyota Mountain Rush" surrounded by a fantastic mountain landscape. In total 40 competitors came to the first event, not only from Austria also from Czech Republic, Germany, Slovenia and Switzerland. In the beginning weather was getting hotter and hotter, but the competitores founded refreshment with the all new EMMA-G drink. The EMMA-G drink was created by EMMA Austria in cooperation with the company Waldboth - an Austrian bottler specialised on energy drinks. Beside the EMMA-G drinks, sound judges were quite pleased as starting rain lowered the temperature - in other words, it rained cats and dogs ;-) . Even during the rainy price giving cermony, the mood of competitors and visitors was good and also the organiser, CEO Mario Platzer from SoundonStreet, was pleased with the event and is looking forward to next years kick off.

Even bigger than the already very good Year 2010 was the Opeltreffen Oschersleben 2011. The location, a DTM Race track near Magdeburg was so crowded (20 000 cars) that some of the weekend guests had to stay outside with their cars and tents. Also for EMMA it was a great event with 56 competitors and a huge Party on the side of the Burn out Area. The almost 68 000 Visitors were entertained at the highest level with Beauty Contest, 1/8 Mile Race, Bungee jumping, Show and Shine contest, Burn Out and Drift Challenges and of course the EMMA cars. On Friday and Saturday evening the EMMA Team organized a barbecue together with the competitors and had some fun around the area before the hardcore guys went to the Party tent with its capacity of more than 3000 guests. Just amazing and even with almost perfect weather (Friday was a thunderstorm) the Opeltreffen was again a real highlight of the EMMA season in Germany.

Already the fith time the Iron Gates competition took place in Drobeta Turnu Severin in Romania and first time a Hungarian Compatitor found the way to the beautiful place on the border to Serbia. Within three days EMMA Romania organised a great competition and a full service package including Party and lots of fun. First time the Trophies have been made by the hands of EMMA Romania Boss Ionut Mocioiu. Special thanks to the City and the major for supporting the EMMA team with the accomodation and beverage.

The southest EMMA competition ever took place in the beautiful city of Cape Town in South Africa on April 22. It was an impressive picture when at 10am over 50 cars were in and around the parking area all gleaming, shining and buffed up. From serious contenders with unbelievable looking cars to first timers only just stepping into the world of in car entertainment, excitement grew as entries were pouring in! On the down side however, so was the wind & rain, causing discomfort and delays - Our apologies go out for the delayed start. Competitors didn’t seem to mind the harsh conditions and Judging started shortly there-after. On a brighter day I’d say there would easily have been too many cars for the venue and Judges to handle. Cape Town has big potential ahead! Despite the conditions, there was no shortage of entertainment.
Byron our MC kept spirits high, a Mechanical rodeo bull took people to task, a jumping castle for the kiddies to bounce around and the guys from the RC Drift Club were there strutting there stuff, they were awesome!!

Even under the worst weather conditions humans know the first event of EMMA Ukraine in the Year 2011 was a success. Snow, Rain and heavy wind are not a perfect surrounding for an open Air competition but 56 cars came to kick off in the capitol Kiev. The frame was the Retro and Exotica Motor Show with its unusual cars and even special hand made Trophies were the price for the winners. The most hidden group during the event have been the Installation Judges which became fully wet but as compensation the Party was really hot.

The Very Beginning ...

A great event area at the Leipzig Fairground, a serene spring mood among the manufacturers, great weather (if you had the opportunity to leave the exhibition hall) and an enthusiastic EMMA community made the EMMA Kick Off at AMICOM 2011, a true mega-event.Around 100 Sound Cars from 11 nations launched this year’s the EMMA competition season and presented for the first time in 2011 the results of their hard work to the ears and eyes of the multinational EMMA judges. The EMMA juries as well as the visiting car audio enthusiasts were particularly excited to welcome participants from Russia and Turkey. In addition to those who already went with their sound system through many EMMA contests, the judge was able to welcome some cars with fresh new sonic landscapes. Those among the newcomers who did not immediately gain a trophy on the podium could definitely take home plenty of input for of sound and installation improvement. Once properly implemented, those tips might rather quickly make newcomers serious competitors to the existing EMMA elite. Within the Advanced Categories the fight was extremly hard for a beginning season and the level was already almost on the Eurofinals level. The AMICOM/EMMA Saturday Night Event was of course again a real highlight of this event: thanks to the culinary contribution by the EMMA San Marino Team who organised ajust great food in the real Italian Style, and the hospitality of the AMICOM exhibitors the fairground mutated on this evening to a Mega-Party area. Tuning Angel Katharina Kuhlmann wowed the audience with daily Mass Moderation around all favorite subjects of sound, Show, Shine & Horsepower. The RTL Car Dealers Jörg and Dragan provided fair visitors on Sunday with their cranky stage show and raffled off many product highlight from desired car audio brands. Together with Katharina they also made sure that the award ceremony on Sunday afternoon became a thrilling conclusion of this EMMA Kick Off. The AMICOM showed clearly that the Car Entertainment is not dead and this platform is now the standard to be measured in terms of perfect organised events.

The second edition of AMICOM is about to become a real key event for the car media industry. An exhibitor increase of 15%, an extensive EMMA Sound Off, Italian dinner and a thrilling stage program are the cornerstones of the 2011th AMICOM.
Many product launches, new vehicle concepts and the EMMA’s live installation projects with two state of the art car infotainment vehicles. The installer team around Stefan Eismann is going to integrate a multimedia system into a Dodge RAM and a high end sound system into a Fiat 500. Another “Sound, Entertainment & Convenience” car project is ready for sound check and waiting on the EMMA stand: the VW Touran 2011, which was approved by the EMMA Academy. It was especially built to demonstrate how complete usability of a vehicle plus great sound and infotainment experience can be realized >>see clip on youtube. The project vehicle area is located next to the main stage where it will be presented by TV Tuning Angel Katharina Kuhlmann. More crazy stage action will come up when RTL Autohändler Jörg and Dragan are going to rock the stage with raffles and their very special show. Looks like the RTL Car Dealer Guys, will already join the Saturday evening to "get together party". From 19:30 a German / Italian buffet will be set up in front of the main stage. Be ready for some fresh pasta and cold snacks from more than 1,000 kilometers south. The dinner ticket is 24, -- €. EMMA participants will get a ticket with their registration.
This years EMMA Kick Off welcomes almost 100 cars from over 10 nations which will give an impression of the current level of car media professionalism in Europe. Several new projects have been announced for the contest as well as some “classics like the Mini from Finland or the spectacular installations of our Russian friends. EMMA competitors and the judge team are expecting a very special challenge caused by the premier implementation of the modified EMMA “double judging”-rule. The ceremony on Sunday afternoon event again promises an emotional ending of this year’s EMMA Kick Off.

What a start to the season… The EMMA South Africa season launch 2011 was a brilliant beginning to what promises to be a competitive, amazing season.
Respect to the competitors who took a chance and drove a long distance to the Cradle of Human Kind on what looked to be a dreary, rainy day. Mother Nature was kind to us as we only had a few drops throughout the day. All competitors were in high spirit as the day began and the Judging started. Byron our famous MC entertained the crowd & kept people occupied with give-away’s and prizes for the duration of the day whilst the judges worked through the entries…
There were a number of new competitors who surprised us with their systems as well as a lot of familiar faces and cars, with vast improvements since last season.There are some promising competitors this season, especially the guys from Team Hygrade – who put in a lot of effort and pay special attention to the feedback given by the judges. Not to mention some seasoned competitors who are continuously improving – Special mention to Grant Rogers from Acousticworx with his Hertz / Audison car for winning the Master Class! The 2 New categories Multi-Media and ESQL, whilst small with limited entries, already show promise to open up the market for new avenues to compete as well as entertain!
Keep your eyes peeled for these! I’m sure the season ahead will bring a lot of fun to the industry– with a refreshing aspect to competitions in SA. The final version of the Rulebook Addendum is released and immediate valid. A couple of adjustments and modification to the current rulebook have been agreed. The major change is the fact to switch to a single seat judging for international events, to guarantee more fairness to the competitor. On national events the current judge system will be continued. Real big changes are planned to be launched for the next edition of the Rulebook 2012.

Ultimate license to judge for 50 international EMMA judges. From February 24th to 27th 50 EMMA Judges from 20 Nations came together to take a great step in their judge career by becoming an international EMMA Headjudge. The focus of this year’s Head Judge Training was primarily set on the update of the Rulebook as a fundamental judging tool for a new exciting EMMA competition season. Main change is that from this season on all international events Sound Quality will be judged from the driver’s position only. In case of more than one person judging, the judges are demanded to listen one after another. As a result, the average will be taken. The new procedure will have its premier at AMICOM in Leipzig. Then it is up to the national associations to adapt this revised procedure during the season. Sound engineer Alex Pleines from Cap à pie Studio and producer of the EMMA competition CD came to change ideas end experiences with the international judges. He was also present when details of the new EMMA competition CD were discussed. This CD will include all new and ESPL competition tracks. A new DVD will follow as well. Besides the work on the Rulebook the schedule included discussions about marketing strategies and sponsor relations in the EMMA countries where a new great season with more than 400 events is expecting thousands of competitors and event visitors. And: yes, of course, there was a lot of party! After every worky training day a fun filled evening was waiting for the attendants. Everyone who has plans of being a part of EMMA’s powerful and music loaded event motor is having the chance to become a future headjudge by entering the EMMA judge team in his/her country. On 22 January 2011, EMMA Indonesia organised the 2011 Nationals and Round 1 for EMMA 2012 on 23 January 2011. A international Judgeteam from the Philippines, Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia was added to the local judges to guarantee absolut fairness. The event was an amazing experience for all and the future on the Sound Competition level looks bright.

For 2011 it is planned to organise a EMMA Standard Installation training for Installers and Technicians, and EMMA Judge training for Indonesia judges. The event will be in late March in Jakarta, and the trainers are Mr. Wahyu, Mr. Somkiat, Mr. Terence, and Mr. Mickey Tang, all highly experienced professionals from the South East Asian neighbours. Also a standard seminar for audio workshop, to educate Installers about the EMMA installation rules and start up with a network of EMMA Certified Stores. The idea is to get the EMMA image and high quality reputation directly to the Installers shops..
The further plans are to have competitions on 28-29 May and on 19-20 November 2011. The Final will be on January 2012. Great expectations and lots of fun!

The fair combine AMITEC, AMICOM and the new fair AMISTYLE from 9th to 13th April 2011 hits it off with the automotive trade – the current number of registrations shows this. Leipzig Trade Fair expects more than 350 exhibitors for the triple’s premiere. “With this fair triple, we have developed an event which is unique in Germany with a common focus on the after-sales sector and which is met with keen interest in the industry,” says Martin Buhl-Wagner, Spokesperson of the Leipzig Trade Fair Board of Management. “The location Leipzig remains a crucial meeting point for industry visitors and car enthusiasts after all in 2011 – even without the AMI.”
The increasing average age of the vehicles and as well as the changing expectations of car owners regarding the equipment increase the importance of the products and services on which the AMISTYLE concentrates. Dynamic living conditions within the family, at work and during leisure time or changing demands in terms of aesthetics and comfort boost demand for customisation, which makes the after-sales segment a strong future market. “AMISTYLE is the first specialised trade fair to take this industry trend into account,” Buhl-Wagner says. “We have detected a strong interest in the newly conceived AMISTYLE, which is primarily based on the clear differentiation to existing car shows and the events dealing solely with tuning.”Already before the premiere of the fair triple, Volker Lange, President of the Association of International Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (VDIK), is certain:
“ The introduction of the AMISTYLE combined with the AMITEC and AMICOM and the clear focus on the growing after-sales field stabilises Leipzig as a fair location also in a year without the AMI.” According to him, this is a good transition, representing an additional incentive for a successful AUTO MOBIL INTERNATIONAL with AMITEC and AMICOM from 14th to 22nd April 2012.”

AMICOM 2011 significantly growing

The AMICOM will be the leading European trade fair for the entire in-car electronics industry in 2011. After the successful start into the year 2010, Project Director Matthias Kober expects a further increase in the number of exhibiting companies and the booked surface. Moreover, he expects a “feast of innovations”. Market-leading companies such as Audio Design, Axion, DLS Svenska, JVC, Kenwood, Magnat and Pioneer have already filed their registrations.As new exhibitors, Alpine, Funkwerk Dabendorf and mobile-media specialist ge-tronic have – amongst others – decided to come to the fair for the first time. The fair programme reflects the entire spectrum of the industry with entertainment, communication and navigation technology and will appeal to industry visitors as well as to a broad audience of private visitors. A sophisticated programme with international sound competition, “live assemblies” and workshops will provide additional vibrancy.

AMITEC 2011: An absolute must for the car industry

The 14th edition of AMITEC is of particular importance as it is Germany’s most important trade fair for vehicle components, workshops and service in 2011 and will thus be visited by industry visitors from all over Germany. The current number of registrations also confirms this. Leading producers and companies such as ad AUGROS, Berner, Förch, HAWEKA, KS Tools, Magneti Marelli, MAPCO, Schwenker, Snap-on-Tools, Techmess and Würth will present their new products and current offers in Leipzig.
